With temperatures in the single digits along the Maine coast, sea smoke has greeted early risers in places like Rockport, Maine.

Penobscot Bay is practically invisible underneath a bed of sea smoke.

Fishing boats are the only ones still on the moorings in most New England harbors these days.

Indian Island, at the mouth of Rockport Harbor, peeks above a layer of sea smoke.

Temperatures have been hovering in the single digits along the Maine coast in recent days, and as these frigid temperatures have hovered above forty-degree water, the result has been some impressive displays of sea smoke.
