Eggemoggin Reach Regatta Gathers the Classics

Every summer, the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta draws classic wooden yachts from near and far to Center Harbor, home to WoodenBoat, Brooklin Boatyard, and a variety of other marine craftsmen who have made Brooklin the (self-proclaimed) “boatbuilding capital of the world.”

The 2013 event delivered a little bit of everything: light winds to start, some fog, rain, and finally sun and fresh breezes. Watching both local and visiting classic yachts challenging each other in the finicky conditions of Jericho Bay and Eggemoggin Reach gave me a real appreciation for the skills of both skipper and crew.
